As was the practice with Victorian novelists, Collins wrote his fair share of ghost stories. THE HAUNTED HOTEL, however, was the first novel in which the supernatural is of central interest.
Wilkie Collins also penned one of the first in the genre of the detective novel, THE MOONSTONE.
